Project Description
This project provides for the design and construction of a new community park in Hayward. The park development project is being managed by the City of Hayward. Construction was anticipated to begin in fall 2023. At completion, HARD will operate and maintain La Vista Park.
The concept plan was approved by the Hayward Area Recreation and Park District Board of Directors on April 9, 2018, and by the Hayward City Council on May 15, 2018. The proposed park improvements include nature play areas, basketball court, picnic areas, shade structures, multi-use lawn/event space that can also accommodate a soccer field, parking, restrooms, walking paths and a portion of the Foothill Trail, exercise stations, off-leash dog area, and Hayward’s first bike terrain park.
On September 28, 2021, the Hayward City Council adopted an addendum to the 2005 La Vista Development IS/MND in compliance with CEQA for the expanded La Vista Park project that includes a bike terrain park. See the Documents section for a copy of the presentation.
The City awarded the construction contract in 2025. Construction is anticipated to be completed in 2027.
