This project provides for the development of a renovation master plan for the existing park site at Bidwell Elementary School. Phase 1 incudes concept design and development of construction documents. Phase 2 includes construction to be completed with future Bond proceeds.
The Bidwell Park master plan process began in summer 2019 and was done in conjunction with the master plan for El Rancho Verde Park. Community workshops were held in the neighborhood in June, August and October 2019.
At the community meeting in October 2019, the community expressed support for the Bidwell Park master plan which incorporates park improvements they prefer in their neighborhood. The park is designed to be an attractive neighborhood amenity that welcomes users of all ages. The Bidwell Park master plan depicts two re-purposed school buildings along Fairway Street, an expanded children’s play area, walking paths, multi-use sport court area, bocce ball, group fitness court, event plaza and gazebo, small- and large-dog park areas, picnic tables, trees, edible gardens, and an expansive multi-use lawn area. Diagonal parking is proposed along Fairway and Rousseau streets.
Next steps include environmental review per the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA); Board of Directors approval of the conceptual plan for Bidwell Park; and development of construction documents.
