The District is partnering with Alameda County Deputy Sheriff’s Activities League (DSAL) and the Hayward Unified School District (HUSD) to develop a new futsal court facility to meet the community’s need for more sport fields in the District. The project is located on an undeveloped, one-acre site owned by HUSD and adjacent to the Sunset Swim Center on Laurel Ave in Hayward, CA.
The project will provide four futsal courts for youth play (convertible to two futsal courts for adult play), perimeter netting/fencing, lighting, restroom, drinking fountain with bottle filler, covered entry and spectator viewing areas, utility connections, and accessible parking.
A virtual public meeting was hosted on June 24, 2020. Many attendees voiced their support for the new futsal court facility. The final concept plan was presented to the HARD Board of Directors meeting on July 20, 2020.
The project was completed and open to the public on February 24, 2023.
