This project provides for the design and construction of renovations to an existing 10-acre park. Construction of the Mia’s Dream Come True all abilities playground within Tennyson Park is currently under construction.
The Tennyson Park Renovation master plan was developed with input from the community in the spring of 2019 and was approved by the Board of Directors on July 15. The master plan includes renovations to the existing ballfield, installation of a new soccer field, basketball courts, walking paths, pump track, outdoor fitness court, picnic areas, community event plaza and parking.
The District has submitted a grant application for the Statewide Park Development and Community Revitalization Program – Round 3 which is funded by Proposition 68 (State of California Parks & Water Bond 2018) and intended to create new recreational opportunities in underserved areas. The State will issue grant award notifications in early 2020. If successful, the project could receive as much a $8.5 million in grant funding to construction the park improvements illustrated in the Tennyson Park Renovation Master Plan.
